Burning Isn't Always So Bad

Today's song: Burning For You by Shiny Toy Guns

This is a cover of the Blue Oyster Cult song.  They changed the lyrics a little, seems the people at Lincoln probably didn't want any mention of the devil in their car commercial.  I don't know why, the MKS might be worth selling your soul for, but that was their call not mine.

When i first encountered Shiny Toy Guns, it was love at first sight.  I love electronica.  Especially stuff that sounds like it could have been made in the Eighties.  That's right, once again i am going to say the Eighties were great.  The electronic alternative music made in the Eighties is the music i grew up to.  Those were the formative years and now my preferences are set.  Shiny Toy Guns was like a cruise missile aimed directly at those preferences.  It was Glorious!

But nothing is ever perfect.  Seems like Jeremy Dawson and Chad Petree didn't like Carah Faye Charnow as much as i did.  They kicked her out and replaced her with Sisely Treasure.  To make matters worse, they lied to the fans about it.  I was willing to check out the new album in 2008 even though Catah was what i liked best about STG.  But when i learned that they lied about Carah leaving i decided there was something better i could do with my sixteen bucks.

I have heard most of Season of Poison, and it was ok.  Ghost Town and Ricochet were good, but not good enough to get me to buy them, not even with the free credits Amazon gives me to send on music downloads that i never end up using.  However then STG made two cover songs to sell Lincolns.  I love my Lincoln, a lot, not as much as Erin of Sophie, but a lot nonetheless.  And i want an MKS.  This song is the song they use to sell the MKS.  I didn't need the push, but it worked.  I plan to make this my next vehicle purchase, and i will so be putting this song on the hard drive included with the car.

I liked this song and Major Tom enough that i might just buy the new album.  It is hard so say right now.  If you are unfamiliar with STG, check them out.  You might like what you hear.  I will not be responsible for any increased desire to buy American made luxury cars that might result.

Later

Bob
