Now with 100% less Jesus Juice

Today's song: Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson (Alien Ant Farm Cover)

Say what you want about that drug addled pervert, Michael Jackson could sing, dance, write songs, and make great videos.  But today we are talking about the Alien Ant Farm cover.  The original is great.  The cover is even better.  You can't say that very often.  Peter Gabriel's cover of Book of Love is  the only other cover that beats the original that i can think of off the top of my head.

The AAF remake of Smooth Criminal is better than the original because it has a frenetic quality.  This gives the song an edge that was missing from the original.  The intensity that AAF brings to the song puts it over the top.  This is not to make light of MJ's intensity, remember i said the original was great.

It is not because i prefer AAF's version to MJ's that it was selected today.  I made the choice because of the videos.  If i went with MJ i could talk about how great Joe Pesci is as a villian, but then someone would bring up Goodfellas.  So to side step this i chose AAF.

Also by choosing AAF i get to talk about a large number of Michael's videos because of the near constant referencing.  But rather than just go on and on about the great moments and videos that AAF invokes i'll just say, "Go watch the video for yourself."  Billie Jean, Thriller, Black or White, Bad, the glove, they are all covered.

We are in the home stretch of this little project.  Twenty-three songs covered, eight left.  If you have a request get it in.  I still have a few songs that are locked in, (Spoiler Alert) there is no way i don't do Rockin' the Suburbs. (End Spoilers)  I hope you are enjoying this year end effort.

Later

Bob
