Today's song: California Über Alles
When this song starts, if you have never heard it before, it is not unreasonable to think you will be getting some old school surf music. That perception doesn't last as the song quickly reveals its punk sensibilities. The Dead Kennedys persist more as a name to drop than as anything else. You mention the Dead Kennedys to appear knowledgeable and that you are into real punk not poser shit like Good Charlotte.
But i am not here to talk about the Dead Kennedys, so let's get on the the real point of today's post, namely liberal fascism. This song is a not so subtle complaint about the way once-and-future California Governor Jerry Brown tried to control the thoughts and actions of his citizens.
When people talk about fascism they are normally criticizing the right wing, or Republicans in America. But the right isn't who you need to be afraid of. The right doesn't want to take away your guns. The right isn't telling you wanting to tell you what speech is acceptable. They don't care who you offend, forty years of attacks from liberals in the media will toughen you up. The right doesn't care which church you attend to pray to the one and only true God and his son on Earth, Jesus Christ.
It is the left that wants to control all aspects of your life. It wasn't the right that twice tried to take over medical care in America, and now wants to mandate that you buy insurance or go to jail. That was the totalitarian left.
"The Fascist conception of the State is all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism is totalitarian, and the Fascist State—a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values—interprets, develops, and potentiates the whole life of a people."Benito Mussolini, 1935. Fascism: Doctrine and Institutions. Rome: Ardita Publishers. p 14. This is precisely the level of control that obama and his coastal allies want over life in America.
Liberals can't tolerate the idea of free thought. Not so much because people will think politically incorrect thoughts as much as the fact that they never win in the public arena. The have to cloak themselves as moderates and lie to people to get into positions of power so that they can enact their ideas into law. Then they try to limit debate so no one can criticize them.
I don't think much of the left. I tend to be a moderate but lean a little to the right. I think that Republicans are just less likely to lie to us and i give points for telling the truth.
You came here for punk and got a little lesson in politics. But then the who idea of punk is to subvert the expected and express one's self truly. So i am totally like all punk and stuff, i even like the Dead Kennedys, at least until they remade the song into We've Got A Bigger Problem Now; that song sucks.
Later
Bob
